The 2022 Clockspring Zinfandel is a vibrant expression of one of Amador County's most distinctive vineyards. A blend of 84% Clockspring Zinfandel, 12% Baldinelli Old Vine Zinfandel, and 4% estate-grown Barbera, this wine was aged for 14 months in small French oak barrels (14% new) followed by 15 months of bottle aging, allowing its fruit and structure to develop beautifully.
Inviting aromas of bright boysenberry and ripe cherry lead the way, layered with blackberry, cranberry, and plum, while subtle notes of cracked black pepper add complexity. The palate opens with rich boysenberry, luscious cherry, and blackberry flavors. Fine-grained tannins create a smooth, velvety texture, leading to a long, elegant finish accented by pepper spice, vanilla, and a hint of rum. Persistent dark fruit flavors linger gracefully, making each sip as memorable as the last.
